Hypertension (high blood pressure) is now recognized as a frequent problem in our senior pets. It is a complicating factor in many of our pets with kidney disease, diabetes, thyroid conditions, obesity, and conditions with excessive cortisone levels. Unrecognized and uncontrolled hypertension can result in sudden blindness, heart disease, progressive kidney disease, and neurological damage.
Now for some encouraging words! The Parks Doppler Blood Pressure Monitor is very accurate in determining blood pressure in our pets, and can be done quickly and without discomfort or risk. Plus, new research has found safe, effective medications to control this disease and prevent the damage it can create.

A new instrument has become available, greatly enhancing glaucoma screening. The Tono-Pen XL is a pen-sized hand held computerized tonometer that is gently touched to the cornea to measure intra-ocular eye pressure.
